eBay Photo Resizer

eBay only demands 500 pixels on the longest side, but photos at that size look rough and never get the zoom treatment buyers rely on when judging condition. Resizing to 1600×1600 pixels hits eBay's recommendation for zoom while keeping files small enough to upload quickly.

eBay requirements last checked 2026-07. Marketplaces update their specs — always confirm in your seller dashboard before large uploads.

How it works

  1. 1

    Add your product photos

The resizer is preset to eBay's recommended 1600 × 1600 pixels. Batches are supported.

  2. 2

    Choose crop or pad

Crop-to-fill produces the exact frame; pad keeps the whole product visible on a background color.

  3. 3

    Check the requirements

A white or neutral background is recommended, though not required in most categories.

  4. 4

    Download

Individually or all photos as one ZIP.

Common uses

  • Bring old listing photos up to the 1600 px zoom recommendation
  • Square-crop photos of used items so condition details stay visible
  • Resize a full set of angle shots to matching dimensions
  • Reduce large phone photos below the 12 MB upload limit
  • Prepare parts and electronics photos where zoomable detail sells

Good to know

  • As of our last check (July 2026), eBay requires at least 500 px on the longest side and recommends 1600 px so the zoom feature activates.
  • Skip borders, watermarks, and seller text on photos — eBay's policy prohibits them and they make listings look dated.
  • A white or neutral background is recommended; for used items, it also makes flaws easier for buyers to assess, which cuts down on returns.
  • Photograph every angle plus any defects — honest photos at zoomable resolution are the cheapest dispute insurance there is.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum photo size for eBay listings?

As of our last check (July 2026), photos must be at least 500 pixels on the longest side. That's a floor, not a target — 1600 px is what eBay recommends for the zoom feature.

Why should I bother with 1600 px if 500 px is allowed?

Zoom. Buyers of used and collectible items zoom in to inspect condition before bidding, and photos near the minimum size don't support it. Sharper photos also simply convert better.

Can I add a watermark or my shop name to photos?

eBay's picture policy prohibits borders and seller-added text or graphics on listing photos, so it's best to keep them clean. Policies change, so check Seller Center if you're unsure.

Do eBay photos have to be square?

No, but eBay displays thumbnails in a square frame, so a 1:1 crop keeps you in control of what shows in search results instead of letting the gallery crop for you.
