Built to be trusted

Processed on your device

There are no upload endpoints. Your images are decoded, transformed and encoded by your own browser — we never see them.

No account required

Every tool works instantly. No sign-up walls, no email capture, no trial timers.

No watermarks

Downloads are your image, exactly as previewed — nothing stamped on top.

No forced upload limits

Limits exist only where browser memory demands them (≈100 megapixels per image), and the tools tell you honestly when you hit one.

Originals stay untouched

Processing works on a copy in memory. The files on your device are never modified.

Batch processing included

Compress, resize, convert and rename whole folders of images and download one ZIP.

Know your image basics

Compression vs. resizing

Compression re-encodes the same pixels more efficiently; resizing changes how many pixels there are. A 4000 px phone photo destined for a web page benefits from both: resize it to the display size first, then compress. For a strict upload limit, the exact-size compressor automates the tradeoff.

PNG vs. JPG vs. WebP vs. AVIF

JPG is the universal photo format; PNG is lossless with transparency, ideal for graphics; WebP does both jobs at smaller sizes with broad support; AVIF compresses best of all but is newer. When in doubt: our format guide has a decision table.

Choosing image dimensions

Match the destination: 1080 × 1080 for Instagram posts, 1280 × 720 for YouTube thumbnails, about twice the displayed CSS size for sharp website images on retina screens. Bigger than needed just wastes bytes — here's why.

Why file size matters

Oversized images are the top cause of slow pages, failed uploads and bounced emails. Portals enforce limits in kilobytes; websites pay in loading time and search ranking. Learn to shrink files without ruining them.

Frequently asked questions

Is PNGful really free?

Yes. Every tool is free to use with no account, no watermarks and no artificial limits. The site is supported by unobtrusive advertising, never by locking features behind sign-ups.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. All processing — compression, resizing, cropping, conversion, metadata removal — runs inside your browser using its built-in image engine and background workers. Your files never leave your device, and there's nothing for us to store or delete.

What image formats does PNGful support?

You can open PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, HEIC and SVG files, and export PNG, JPG and WebP (plus ICO for favicons and ZIP for batches). A few formats depend on your browser — the tools detect support and tell you clearly when something isn't available.

Can I compress an image to an exact size like 100 KB?

Yes — that's one of our flagship tools. Set any target in B, KB or MB and PNGful searches encoder quality (and optionally dimensions) to deliver a file at or under the limit whenever it's technically possible.

Does PNGful work on phones?

Yes. Every tool works with touch — dragging crop boxes, panning avatar frames and adjusting sliders all support touch gestures, and layouts adapt to small screens.

Do processed images keep their EXIF and location data?

By default, no — processing strips metadata, which is usually what you want for privacy. The compressor can preserve JPG metadata when asked, and the dedicated metadata tool gives you field-by-field visibility and control.
